Welcome to Ancient Desert
The official site for:
Ancient Desert Ritual
BassBoards of Ancient Desert Ritual
Glenn D. Clark and the Waterloo Survivors

What's all this "Ancient Desert" stuff all about?
Ancient Desert Ritual and Ancient Desert Sounds and Recording's initials actually come from a synthesizer's envelope generator, ADR and ADSR respectively. Attack decay release and/or attack decay sustain release. The name originated from Yes' 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' song titles. One from the song "The Ancient" and the other from the song "Ritual". The "Desert" part comes from Tangerine Dream's LP "Green Desert".

Settling on such an exotic and mystical sounding name might of given the impression of a New Age artist. Well...... Ancient Desert Ritual has always claimed itself to be an atmospheric eclectic progressive pop rock band.  This seems to cover all the bases by playing New Age-y atmospherical soundscapes to dark n' hard rockin' edgy lyrical material.

Ancient Desert Sounds and Recording is the company name, started in 1996, allowing for other music, video and art endeavors

What's with the "BassBoards of Ancient Desert Ritual" thing?
Songwriter Glenn D. Clark, usually has a number of musical pieces, atmospheric concepts, or sonic experimental leftover or simply lying around somewhere in various devices and hard drives. Instead of having these pieces die a horrible digital death, he revamps them as side tunes. A collection of private parts and pieces as influenced by ex-Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips' side releases.

But what's with the "BassBoards" part?
Much of these pieces started using his 6-string bass guitar and/or keyboard/synthesizer works. Hence the name "Bass(key)Boards".

Who, or what, is "The Waterloo Survivors"?
This is Clark's rock trio project. Dark, rustic, and controversial with Clark on lead vocals. Designed for more live band performances.
